Manchester United are the new favourites to sign Brazilian starlet Gabriel Barbosa and are readying a £30m bid, according to The Sun.
The 19-year-old Santos starlet was already on the radar of a host of European clubs, but his performances for Brazil’s Olympic team at Rio 2016 has further enhanced his reputation.
Premier League champions Leicester City were rumoured to be among the frontrunners to sign the wonderkid. The Foxes reportedly thought they had seen off competition from Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid to sign Barbosa, but United’s late move has thrown a spanner in the works.
The article claims the teenager could be a United player within 48 hours as the Red Devils seek to push through a deal for him.
United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to add one more striker to his squad to add competition for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and captain Wayne Rooney. Barbosa is the man earmarked for that role.
