Barcelona forward Neymar has confirmed he held talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move to Ligue 1 in the off-season transfer window.
The 24-year-old held talks with the French champions on two separate occasions, according to his agent, although several other teams were also interested in acquiring his services.
However, the Brazil international ultimately decided to commit his future to Barca, putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal.
When quizzed over PSG’s reported interest, Neymar told reporters: “Yes, we had discussions with many people, not just one [with PSG]. But I decided to stay at Barca because I feel at home here. I’m happy with my teammates and I’m Barca man.”
Neymar’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, recently revealed that his client was offered €40 million a year to ply his trade in Paris, but the player refused to comment on the validity of his representative’s claim.
“I can’t confirm the numbers given by Wagner Ribeiro because I don’t like talking about figures,” Neymar added. “Like I’ve said I was in talks with many teams, [PSG] wasn’t the only one. But I decided to stay here; I’m happy here.
“I don’t see myself away from Barcelona. It’s something I can’t imagine because I feel at home. I’m really happy here. I feel important, like everyone in the team, and I hope that I can keep helping the team. I think it’s going to be a great season for me and the team.”
